Rajni Lallah & Jean-Claude Bibi: US-UK Illegal Occupation of Chagos for Military-Imperial Hegemony
July 1, 2023, Rajni Lallah & Jean-Claude Bibi join the show from Mauritius to discuss the history and ongoing US-UK Illegal Occupation of the Chagos Islands & Diego Garcia for their Strategic Military Imperial Agenda.
Rajni Lallah is an activist, musician, composer and music teacher. Ms. Lallah is a leading member of LALIT (which means struggle), Lalit is a political party and organization in Mauritius which has been in the forefront for the past half century of the struggle to decolonize and demilitarize the Chagos Islands. Ms. Lallah was 12 years old when she joined the women’s movement in Mauritius and remains active in Muvman Liberasyon Fam, a national women’s organization in Mauritius. When she was 14, she went to the first solidarity all-night vigil in support of Chagossian women on hunger strike after they had been deported by the UK-USA military to Mauritius island and has been active on the Chagos front ever since.
Jean-Claude Bibi is currently in Private Law practice as a Barrister, and is Head of Bibi Law Chambers. Mr. Bibi has served a of member of National Legislative Assembly (the Parliament) of Mauritius. As Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Mauritius. Mr. Bibi also served as High Commissioner of Mauritius to Australia; as well as the Ambassador of Mauritius to Japan; as well as the High Commissioner of Mauritius to New Zealand; and as the Ambassador of Mauritius to the Republic of Madagascar.
Mr. Bibi has also served as a legal advisor to the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping in Western Sahara and in Angola. Mr. Bibi has also served as the Legal Adviser to the Rodrigues Regional Assembly, the autonomous Government of Rodrigues Island, an overseas territory of the Republic of Mauritius. Mr. Bibi is also the Founding member of JUSTICE (an Association Against Violence by State Agents), which is an NGO that militates against police brutality and violence against prisoners by prison officers.
